| Bio: | I may be the oldest person here! Here are a few pertinent facts. FAMILY My wife, Pamela, and I have been married for 28 years. We live on Long Island in a house full of lizards, and anybody who wants one is welcome to one. My Mom is the coolest 75 year old woman in the world, the only person in Leisure Village who went to see the South Park movie. My sister is Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at a Manhattan hospital. My brother is an actor living in Los Angeles, who you may have seen hijacking a tractor as DeNiro's father in "Analyze This" or beating the crap out of the obnoxious doctor on "ER". PROFESSIONAL I edit social studies textbooks, and I love it. If you see a Prentice Hall or Pearson social studies text, look for my name in the staff credits. You might find it. SCRABBLE I have been playing Scrabble since the age of nine, and tournament Scrabble since 1985. I got into the game via my dear friend Marjorie Schoneboom. I'm a low-level expert, though I did peak at a rating of 1932 and a ranking of 27th. (I stayed there about fifteen minutes.) I'm notorious for refusing to study. One of my proudest achievements is bringing my protege Jason Idalski into the game. PLAYWRITING I like to think I'm on the verge of crossing the line into full professionalism. In February 2007, my play "Galatea" was produced in Los Angeles, quite successfully. It was later nominated for Best Playwriting at the 29th Annual LA Weekly Theatre Awards. My favorite roles included Charley in "Death of a Salesman," King Herod in "Jesus Christ Superstar," Charlemagne in "Pippin," Mr. Van Daan in "The Diary of Anne Frank," and Mitch in "A Streetcar Named Desire." *I sing in my church choir and help direct the church's youth group. *I have been on two television game show, "Jeopardy" in 1991 and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" in 2000. On the former, I lost by a buck. On the latter, I walked away with $32,000. Ironically, I appeared on the very same episode of WWTBAM as somebody who later became a Scrabble player. *I love to read, especially long Victorian novels (Dickens, Trollope, Thackeray) and Golden Age detective stories (Christie, Queen, Carr, Chesterton). *I make up elaborate trivia games and post them to a different site. *I love my friends and the part of me that is still an unpopular adolescent is endlessly grateful to have them. | |||||
